Keeping Mum and Running with Scissors

I watched these two movies this week. Out of the movies I borrowed from the library my hopes were set on Keeping Mum. Out of all the movies, it was maybe the second best. I actually liked Employee of the Month the best out of all the movies I borrowed, but I enjoyed Keeping Mum as well. It was funny and cute and endearing, but with a surprising ending (for me anyway).

Running with Scissors was a very strange movie. I think the saddest part of this movie for me was that it was based on Augusten Burroughs's personal memoirs. I almost turned off this movie a few times, but I stuck with it. It was kind of like one of those car wrecks you can't look away from.

Overall, I give Keeping Mum a thumbs up!

Employee of the Month

Alright. I watched this one and had very low expectations after the previous unable to watch movie. Employee of the Month was actually a cute little movie. It's not top 5 or top 50 for that matter, but it was cute and charming and clean-ish. I really liked the idea that how we treat our friends really matters. It was also fun to see Jessica Simpson with huge ears. Anyway, this was a fun movie and I give it a thumbs up.

I Think I Love My Wife

I'm not sure why I wanted to see this except that Gina Torres is in it and I love her. She was in Alias and Firefly - both top ten TV shows for me. Anyway, I tried to watch this movie it was just tiresome and offensive and over the top. I turned it off and went to sleep. Two huge fat thumbs down on this one. Bleah!

Definitely, Maybe

I went to see this movie this afternoon. I think, overall, it was a pretty good movie. I think that little girl, Abigail Breslin, is a very good little actress. Now, mind you, she's not as good in this as she was on Little Miss Sunshine, but this is a good movie and Ryan Reynolds was great. I give it a thumbs up.

Along those same lines, I went to the Fort Worth Public Library today and picked up five DVDs. The first one is disc/volume one of Sleeper Cell. The next ones are all movies: I Think I Love My Wife, Employee of the Month, Keeping Mum, and Running with Scissors. I'll be back if any of these are truly outstanding. I think Keeping Mum has the best potential.
